Off the coast of Conquet, the body of a bucket fell into the water recovered this Friday morning

This Friday, July 4, 2025, a man’s body was seen in the morning, floating off the port of Conquet. Once on the ground, at the port of the Conquet, the SNSM, the SAMU and the firefighters intervened to provide first aid gestures, including cardiac massages for almost 40 minutes. He could not be revived.

Discomfort or false movement

According to initial information, the 78 -year -old man was aboard a ten -meter sailboat off the tip of Kermorvan and the Sablons whites where he was back. The septuagenarian sailed with his son. They left the day before Granville (Manche) to Lorient (Morbihan). Shortly after their passage in front of the Conquet, the son saw his father suddenly switch to water, possibly following discomfort or a false movement. He immediately plunged to try to rescue him, but his efforts remained in vain.

Alerted, the CROSS (Regional Operational Operational and Rescue Center) Corsen immediately hired the Borda hydrographic building of the French Navy which was not far from the place of the accident, an ambulance of the firefighters and a semi-rigid of the SNSM.

The body recovered by the Borda

In parallel, following the Mayday call, the Petrel, which ensures the Ouessant-Conquet liaison for the Penn-Ar-Bed company and was preparing to dock, confused to try to rescue the boate. A sailor’s fisherman also provided operations.

It was ultimately the semi-rigid of the Borda who managed to recover the victim, to bring him back to the port of Conquet. Once at the quay around 10 a.m., the victim was taken care of by a SMUR team. Despite the attempted resuscitation, the doctor declared the death of the septuagenarian at 10:36 a.m.

The victim’s son was recovered by the SNSM, which also put the sailboat safe, placed in mooring in the port of Conquet. An investigation was entrusted to the maritime gendarmerie to shed light on the exact circumstances of the drama.
