Oppo and Hasselblad leave for a tour! The two brands have just renewed their strategic partnership with the objective of developing the new generation mobile imaging system. On the program: True Chroma Camera and Ai Bokeh Engine who copy the rendering of the legendary Hasselblad X2D.
Four years after their first collaboration, Oppo and Hasselblad leave for a tour.
The two brands have just renewed their strategic partnership in Göteborg, Sweden, with the objective of jointly developing the new generation mobile imaging system. We were there.
This alliance has already enabled OPPO to climb photophones at the top of the basket, especially with the Find X8 Ultra which is a hit at DxOMark (score of 169). He took first place in the ranking.
But the real innovations are to come, we were able to discover them, with the True Chroma Camera and the Ai Bokeh Engine which copies the rendering of the legendary Hasselblad X2D.
True Chroma Camera
The novelty that has marked us the most on Find X8 Ultra is its function True Chroma Cameraa first in the industry. This revolutionary technology will recreate the white balance by varying it all the image instead of applying a uniform correction. Concretely, the device analyzes each area of the image to precisely adjust the color temperature according to local lighting.
This approach solves one of the problems of the mobile photo: images with mixed lighting (sun + neon, tungsten + led) where part of the image draws towards yellow or blue. With the True Chroma Camera, each area is supposed to find its natural colors, to create much more realistic and balanced images.
This technology is based on Hasselblad’s expertise in colorimetric rendering. The engineers analyzed thousands of images taken with Hasselblad devices to understand how the Swedish brand manages color shades.
Ai Bokeh Engine: When the AI copies the legendary X2D
The other novelty is theAi Bokeh Engine Who faithfully reproduces the Hasselblad X2D bokeh, the average reference camera. This technical novelty uses artificial intelligence to analyze the depth of field and create a background blur that imitates Hasselblad optics.
The system would be particularly impressive on portraits with precise cutouts in the hair and rendering of natural appearance. More artificial vagueness that betrays the mobile photo. AI Bokeh Engine includes the optical geometry of Hasselblad lenses and reproduces their characteristics: bokeh shape, transition between net and blur, rendered light sources.
Instead of simply blurring the background, the AI recreates the optical signature of a professional camera. A technological leap that brings photophones closer to high -end SLRs.
Penta Camera system: five sensors to dominate
Finally, Find X8 Ultra uses a Penta Camera system which incorporates five dedicated sensors. This configuration makes it possible to cover all focal lengths and all uses: ultra-angle, main, telephoto, macro and depth sensor. Each optics is optimized for its specific function.
Oppo also insists on its Master mode which allows you to get out of the JPEG max 50 mp and raw max 16 bits 50 mp formats. Enough to touch up their images in post-production.
As a reminder, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra was officially presented on April 10, 2025 and marketed on April 16, 2025 in China.
No official marketing is planned in France or Europe. Oppo does not envisage international launch for the moment, just like for Find X7 Ultra which has never released outside China.
