Panne at France Télévisions: a complaint filed after “a malicious act”

It was an act of maliciousness. The “major” breakdown in the night of Friday 20 to Saturday June 21 on the branches of France Télévisions would not be an accident. In a statement sent this Monday, July 23 at the end of the day, the Directorate of France TV denounces “an act of maliciousness committed outside” which “caused the failure of an air conditioning circuit”. She specifies that she “filed a complaint so that an investigation is carried out on the circumstances and the motivations of this action”.

Reminder of the facts. On the night of 20 to 21, an air conditioning failure hit the broadcast servers of France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and Franceinfo, simply causing an interruption around midnight.

But on the morning of the 21st, the continuous information chain was still unable to broadcast its live programs: the failure had damaged part of the production control equipment. “The TV antenna of Franceinfo has resumed live from 10 am from the Plateau France A. The chain has found normal production conditions on Sunday June 22,” said France TV today.

More traces of legionella

Since this rare incident, investigations have, it seems, made it possible to conclude an external intervention as a cause of the failure, without the press release providing more precision.

The text also takes the opportunity to assert, contrary to what could have circulated on the web, that there are no longer any traces of legionella in the premises of France TV.

“As a press release to all employees on September 26, 2024, a control carried out in mid-September 2024 revealed the presence of Legionella at the level of certain aerorefrigerant towers of Maison France Télévisions. Immediately, and in connection with the services concerned of the Prefecture of Île-de-France and the Drieat, all of the disinfection and employee safety measures were implemented. No contamination was noted among the group’s employees. Since then, all the statements carried out very regularly in accordance with the regulations have confirmed the total absence of bacteria in our facilities ”.
