Several associations will be present in order to guide curious and passionate in the observation of planets and shooting stars, in the country of Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine).
The associations “History and Memoirs” of Saint-Brice-en-Coglès and “star lovers” of the Pays de Fougères will organize two evenings devoted to the observation of the night sky, on Fridays 1is and Saturday August 2, 2025.
The first stage will take place on the Saint-Brice-en-Coglès football field (Ille-et-Vilaine), from 8:30 p.m. The Moon, can be observed, followed after nightfall, from Saturn. Venus and Jupiter should appear in the middle of the night, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. All this will be done by means of instruments, such as telescopes and binoculars. These observations will be guided by the associations present on site.
A rain of shooting stars to observe on August 2
On August 2, it was from 9 p.m. and on the Bazouge-du-Désert football field (Ille-et-Vilaine), that the rain of the Perseids could be observed, although it is necessary to wait for this August 11 and 12 to see this phenomenon at the time of its strongest activity. This rain of shooting stars will be observable with the naked eye, as will be the Milky Way and the Galaxy of Andromeda.
Also on the program of these two days, musical interludes, animations, or even the flight of a miniature hot air balloon. A conference, organized on 1is August, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the town hall of Saint-Brice-en-Coglès, will allow you to learn more about astronomy and the measurement of distances in the sky.
