AI will replace you, dear employees
Why do CEOs use artificial intelligence (AI) to scare workers? questions the American information site Axios. Business managers scare their employees by warning them that new technology could make many obsolete workers, while urging them to start using it immediately, reports the information site. This is the contradictory message used by the Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, in a word sent to his employees. “It is difficult to predict the long-term consequences precisely, but we plan that this will reduce our total workforce in the coming years thanks to the efficiency gains that we will achieve thanks to the generalized use of AI”, he writes, before continuing by saying “… Be curious about AI, form … to find how to optimize productivity …”. The JPMorgan consumer director recently told investors that AI would allow a 10 % reduction in staff. Other companies have already attributed layoffs to AI. Fear is generally considered an ineffective management technique, recalls Axios. In extreme cases, executives could even prevent employees from adapting to AI.

40 rules to fail by Roger T. Duguay and Erik Giasson
Instead of dictating what to do to get success, the authors wanted to put you on the track things to do to fail. How to act as director or manager to destroy success and organization? By adopting a posture centered on your feeling of importance, by controlling, by making microgestion, which will undermine the morale of the troops and operational efficiency, write the authors. Roger T. Duguay is actuer and founder of a recruitment firm for senior executives, while Erik Giasson is an entrepreneur and had to overcome a series of failures and tests. Other rules to fail: assign yourself the merit for the good blows of the organization, intervene in place of your superior or contradict its positions during a meeting, shine by your address during social or sports activities (this may humiliate the president if it is in excess weight and zero in the activity), indicate the authors. There are also the classics: be negative, always blame others, let your dependence take control, and the surprising dream too big.

Use the law to generate the growth that Quebec needs
What if a lawyer firm offered more than legal services? If she did the right otherwise? This is what BCF Business lawyers wants to demonstrate with its new committed campaign: “See and power”, which celebrates its 30 years of existence. In the current world uncertain more than ever, this law firm believes that law is a lever for growth, action and innovation for Quebec companies. “During major crises, such as the imposition of American customs tariffs under the Trump administration, BCF did not wait: it mobilized its partners, analyzed the economic impact with Aciséo, convened a strategic summit, then deployed initiatives over 12 months to support companies from here. This is what that means: not to be content to do the right, but to act for the collective good, ”explains Manon Goudreault, vice-president, marketing and customer strategy.

The figure
19,3 %
It was the percentage of Canadians who said they had seen a friend during a day in 2022. In 1986, there were 47.9 %. According to a statistical Canada report, Canadians spend less time than ever with their friends, and the decline is the most marked among the working age population. The increase in the cost of living means that more Canadians occupy several jobs, analyzes Laura Eramian, professor at Dalhousie University. The aging of the population also means that people of working age must simultaneously manage child care and care for the elderly. “Longer hours of work, the expectation of being constantly connected thanks to the technology and the” culture of agitation “all contribute to a chronic state of activity, leaving little room for spontaneous interactions,” says Luca Maria Pasando, assistant professor at McGill University.

The study
Offering a job is no longer enough. You have to provide meaning.
An attractive salary is of fundamental importance, nobody wants to have the impression of being paid at its fair value. However, according to the most recent Randstad Workmonitor survey, employees are no longer looking for only a good salary and a title. They want to work in a place that shares their values and their aspirations. They are motivated by a feeling of belonging to work (86 %), because it improves their performance and well-being. The majority of respondents (89 %) say they want their workplace more like a community. Flexibility, conciliation and internal growth are basic expectations while 44 % of respondents mentioned a job if the values of the company do not stop with their personal values. The Randstad Workmonitor study covers 35 markets in Europe, Asia-Pacific and America with its 26,000 respondents.
