PS games plus August 2025: three radically different nuggets, with an acclaimed game, a hardcore game, and a guilty pleasure

From August 5, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download three very different games but all striking in their own way. Between gothic reinterpretation of a children’s tale, survival without a net and fan service doped for adrenaline, Sony is focusing on diversity.

1. Lies of P (PS4 / PS5).
2. Dayz (PS4).
3. My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4).

This Korean Soulslike is not a simple style exercise. Under its outside Bloodborne revisited by Tim Burton, Lies of P deploys a real identity, with a Belle Epoque universe plagued by rust and madness. The gameplay is demanding, nervous, sometimes punitive, but never unfair. Special mention to the disturbing aesthetic and the lying system that influences the end of the game. A real black pearl for challengers of challenge.

This veteran of the survival game returns to haunt the PS4. Nothing was watered down: DayZ remains brutal, opaque, and sometimes frustrating – but it is also what makes its strength. We live there moments of pure tension, between total paranoia and unexpected encounters. Those who love the hard cooperation or emerging stories will find a ruthless sandbox there. In solo, it’s tough. In duet, it’s tense. In squad, it’s epic.

Let’s be clear: if you don’t like My Hero Academiago your way. For the others, My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a 3D fighting game that offers a generous cast, spectacular special blows and flawless loyalty to the original material. It’s flashy, noisy, sometimes cluttered, but it’s the job for a sofa evening between Shōnen fans.
