(Quebec) The Independent Investigation Office (BEI) opened an investigation into the death of a motorcyclist who would have lost his life in Quebec on Wednesday, after a prosecution with a police officer from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
According to information received by the EIB so far, the policeman has tried to intercept a motorcyclist on Wednesday afternoon because he suspected a possible offense in the road safety code.
The policeman would have approached, but the motorcyclist would have accelerated and tried to flee, according to the BEI’s story.
After putting an end to him, the policeman would then have seen smoke and found that the motorcyclist had been ejected from his machine.
His death would have been noted in the hospital thereafter.
Six BEI investigators will look into the file and will be assisted by the Quebec City Police Service.
The BEI triggers an investigation in situations where a person dies, is injured seriously or is injured by a police gun during an interaction with a police body.
