radical design, interactive back… it will matrix the competition

The Nothing Phone (3) is official and we were able to take it in hand upstream of its presentation. The Premium Smartphone of Nothing breaks the codes with a back integrating a screen in a pixel matrix.

After weeks of teasingthe Nothing Phone (3) is finally announced. As a last -minute leak suggested, and as the London brand is used to it, the smartphone does take a daring design that looks like nothing known.

Break the codes

Nothing had not released a premium smartphone for two years, for the occasion, the brand has decided to upset its codes. We have the right to a back playing once again on transparency, but betting this time on right angles, photo modules scattered like puzzle and slightly more sharp lines.

However, we find the identity of the brand with its white and black colors so recognizable, the apparent screws without forgetting a red element, here a square which is now capable of flashing when you record a video. It is also possible to extinguish it to the envy.

The biggest change in the formula lies in the disappearance of the glyph, this set of white LEDs which so far squatted the back of each of their phones, for the benefit of a pixel matrix, like an Asus Rog Phone 9 Pro.

La Glyph Matrix

The Glyph Matrixthis is its name, takes the form of a round slab placed at the top right of the smartphone and comprising 489 LEDs. We were able to play a little with and be clear: it already allows many more interactions than the glyph interface was capable of offering.

Let us quote some examples:

  • Hour display;
  • Mini-games;
  • A mirror to take selfie.

Ultimate fantasy, Nothing has integrated a haptic button on the back of its smartphone which allows you to interact with this matrix. Short support allows you to go from one functionality to another and long support allows you to launch an action. A simple, but effective operation which leaves room for the imagination of developers.

Moreover, in order to encourage the latter to offer their own “glyph toys”, Nothing made the SDK available. So we can’t wait to play Doom on the matrix of the Nothing Phone (3).

For the rest of the interface, we obviously find Nothingos, on Android 15, all of black and white dressed. Nothing offers correct software monitoring for its premium, with 5 years of major updates and 7 years of security updates. Android 16 should be deployed at the end of the year.

Traditionally, who says Smartphone Premium, says rather heavy phone and Nothing does not lie the adage with a product weighing all the same 218 g. It is also relatively thick, 8.95 mm. With such dimensions, it can boast of adopting a 6.67 -inch wide screen, obviously OLED. A Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass protects the front, while the Victus is installed on the back.

Snapdragon 8 s Gen 4, WiFi 7 et Bluetooth 6.0

For the performance part, Nothing has again associated with Qualcomm and drew this premium chip, the Snapdragon 8 S Gen 4. A swift chip accompanied by an equally muscular configuration, since two configurations are offered: 12 + 256 and 16 + 512 GB. This allows the Phone (3) to equip itself with the latest network standards, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 are the game.

For the photo configuration, Nothing includes 4 50 MP sensors, including an equivalent X3 periscope. What largely play the competition with a Galaxy S25. Here is the full photo configuration:

  • Grand angle: 50 MP sensor type 1/1.3 inch, f/1.68, ois and autofocus
  • Periscope: 50 MP sensor type 1/2.75 inch, f/2.68, 70 mm (X3 equivalent), digital zoom to X60;
  • Ultra wide angle: 50 MP sensor type 1/2.76 inch, f/2.2, 114 °;
  • Selfie: 50 MP sensor type 1/2.76 inch, f/2.2, 81.2 °.

Finally, the smartphone incorporates a 5150 mAh battery. Despite its relatively classic capacity, Nothing wanted to specify that it incorporates a dose of carbon silicon. The battery is loaded in wire in 65 W, 15 W in wireless and the smartphone supports the wireless reversed load up to 5 W and in wired up to 7.5 W.

Price and availability of NOTHING Phone (3)

The Nothing Phone (3) will be available in pre -orders from July 4, and will enter the store from July 15. Two colors are offered: black or white.

On the price side, the brand offers two configurations, one at 849 euros with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM and the other at 949 euros with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM.

For the writing of this article, our journalist participated in a press trip with Nothing. The brand did not participate in its writing.
