This closure decision follows the sanitary control operation carried out a week ago. The inspection of the first closed establishment revealed the presence of a considerable amount of damaged meat. This meat being unfit for consumption, the authorities ordered the immediate closure of the establishment, as a precaution.

The second establishment was closed after the discovery of damaged foodstuffs and a large amount of used cooking oil intended for illegal sale. The consumption of these oils represents a risk to public health, which is why the authorities have decided to pronounce the closure of the premises.

The operation was carried out by mixed commissions made up of representatives of the Ministry of Health, Interior and Commerce. These commissions are part of the continuous monitoring program set up by local authorities to ensure compliance with health and hygiene standards in force by owners and managers of restaurants or fast food establishments.

Local authorities specify that these unexpected control operations will continue in order to preserve the health of consumers, especially in this summer period when many national and foreign tourists, including Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), flock to the cities of northern Morocco to take advantage of their holidays. They also called on citizens to report any case of food poisoning or violation of health standards.
