Since February 2025, the Rennes medical start-up Rainpath Facilitates biopsy analyzes thanks to artificial intelligence. Co -founders Mel Landelle et Antoine Delpace highlight the desire to remove the use of chemicals in order to save time, but also to have a positive economic and environmental impact.
In order to accelerate the analysis of biopsies, Rainpath replaces them chemical colors byartificial intelligence. This initiative makes it possible to avoid chronophagous scientific manipulations and presenting risks of manual error. It also avoids the use of expensive and toxic chemicals.
Acceleration of diagnostics
Rainpath uses the method of virtual coloring (Virtual Staining): It is a method using artificial intelligence to modify medical images. It makes it possible to transform colorful images in a certain way (as with H & E coloring) into another type of coloring (like the IHC), without having to redo a new analysis in the laboratory. This tool acts as a filter on a photo highlighting certain details more than others. With artificial intelligence, you can change “filter” without having to touch up the human fabric. This saves time and avoid damaging fabric samples.
The start-up also wants to create the « Rainbow coloration »: It would be a presentation of the tissues where each color would correspond to specific diagnostic information. The goal is to become the world’s new standard for presenting human fabric with a clearer system for pathologists.
A start-up at the service of the planet and the health system
The Rennes start-up follows a Health Climate Strategy. The use of Rainpath implies fewer chemicals. The traditional coloring system uses several chemical, sometimes toxic colors: using more digital visual changes would allow Reduce the environmental impact laboratories. This also has an economic advantage because some chemicals are particularly expensive for the current health system.
Rainpath also wishes to create a dozen highly qualified jobs: the organization requires developers, “data scientists”experts in artificial intelligence, etc. To be able to recruit, the start-up has raised funds from 2.5 million eurosfin June 2025. She was allowed by Teampact Ventures and the Xplor’s regression fund by epopée managementfollowed by The Quest, Advans Lab, Sharpstone and with the support of BPI France.
Rainpath’s objective is to assert oneself on the European then American market: the co -founders Mel Landelle et Antoine DelPlace wishes to obtain medical certifications in the next eighteen months in order to market the solution and to equip European laboratories with this technology.
