The danger of forest fire is “marked” (level 3 out of 5) in the cantons of Thurgovie, Schaffhouse, Geneva and in certain parts of Valais and Jura, indicates the Confederation on its Portal of natural dangers.
The greatest caution is in order during the use of fires in the forest and on the edge of the forest. The lights should only be turned on in fixed homes.
Lack of water
In Thurgovia, water withdrawal is prohibited from Friday, especially in streams. The absence of precipitation made that the level of streams, rivers and lakes is at a very low level, wrote the canton in a press release.
The Lake Constance, the Rhine as well as the lakes of Hüttwil and Nussbaum are exempt from the prohibition of water withdrawal. Samples from water tables or sources are also authorized. The current ban concerns around 13% of the quantity of water made available to agriculture in the event of drought each year, the canton of Thurgovie said.
