“Massive bombings” on kyiv give less five dead
“Massive bombings” in the night on kyiv and its region left at least five people dead and twenty injured, the Ukrainian authorities announced on Monday, after Ukraine promised to intensify its strikes on Russia.
The Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, Igor Klymenko, reported “massive bombing of missiles and drones” during the night in the capital and his region. He deplored “strikes on residential areas, hospitals, sports facilities” by Russian forces “without respect for the concept of civil infrastructure.
In the district of Chevchenkivski, in the west of the capital, “a whole section of a residential building of several floors was destroyed,” said the minister on Telegram.
On this site alone, “at this stage, four people died. The rescuers came to the aid of 10 people injured”. But there could be more victims under the rubble, he warned.
Another person died in strikes in Bela Tserkva, an agglomeration located in southern kyiv, who made ten injured, he added.
Several residents were also injured near a metro exit, where people took shelter, in the Sviatochinski district, in the west of the capital, said Kiev military administration Timour Tkatchenko.
AFP journalists in the capital have heard drones in flight and a series of detonations.
In a shelter located in the basement of a residential building in the center of kyiv, these journalists saw a dozen people waiting for the end of the attack on chairs or benches, most of them scrutinizing their phone in search of information. A woman and her child slept in folding beds brought in advance in the shelter.
