The Sardinia holidays of Carsten and Vivian Spohr ended with a terrible road accident on Tuesday afternoon, near Porto Cervo, on the famous Costa Smeralda (northeast). According to the “Corriere della will be”, the wife of the CEO of the airline Lufthansa was driving her BMW X5 when she overturned a young woman of 24 years on a pedestrian crossing. Seriously injured in the head, Gaia Costa, daughter of a local trade unionist, died in a few minutes.

Video surveillance images and several testimonies are overwhelming for Vivian Spohr, 51. It seems indeed that the German did not lift the foot when arriving near the pedestrian crossing, despite the fact that the pedestrian made a sign of the hand. The unhappy one was struck hard. According to the Italian daily, the driver immediately stopped, but had to have the situation explained to witnesses. At that time, she passed out.

Vivian Spohr had already returned to Germany before being charged. She had no legal obligation to stay in Italy, where an investigation was opened for manslaughter. According to the first elements, the German was sober at the time of the drama, but it is possible that she was manipulating her phone. The 50 -year -old SUV has been seized and an autopsy must soon be carried out on the body of the victim. For his part, Lufthansa refused to comment, evoking a “private” affair.

The mayor of Tempio Pausania, Gianni Addis, announced that the municipal administration had “decided to cancel and postpone all public and private events and demonstrations of any kind provided in the city, from today until the end of Sunday July 13”. The elected official added that a day of mourning will also be decreed, as soon as the date of the Gaia funeral is known.
