SFR will sell TV tricks to reduce its debt

Patrick Drahi, in the Senate, in Paris, on February 2, 2022.

While Orange, Bouygues Telecom and Free discuss the possibility of buying SFR together, in order to return to three operators in France, the Red Carré operator continues its deleveraging operation. The group of Patrick Drahi and its Rival Bouygues Telecom announced, Wednesday, July 30, their entry into exclusive negotiations with the American Phoenix Tower International, to sell him infracos, their joint venture, owned 50/50, of Tours Telecoms. The latter manages some 3,700 terraces, pylons and other high mobile network points in rural areas of France. SFR and Bouygues Telecom have, on these sites, shared antennas in order to bring 4G and 5G to their customers.

Both hope to complete this transfer by the end of 2025, subject to obtaining the approval of the Competition Authority, but also of the Government, which has the power to take conditions for a redemption, via the control system for foreign investment. When questioned, neither SFR ni Bouygues Telecom wanted to communicate the total amount of the operation. Ditto for Phoenix Tower International, who did not answer our questions.
