“Something rather positive”: the Minister of Health wants to encourage nap at work

Soon more spaces in companies to make micro-sests? This is promoted by the Minister of Health, Yannick Neuder on Tuesday, July 22. During the presentation of an inter -ministerial roadmap “in favor of a quality sleep”, he said he was “very favorable to the nap in general, whether in the professional environment or at the school”.

“We must make sure that there can be these times of rest for childhood, because they are extremely important, and it is also valid at the level of companies,” he completed in front of the press.

“Something positive for health”

Yannick Neuder clarified that there would be no “proper recommendation of the Ministry of Health vis-à-vis employers, but indeed, we can say that as far as possible”, it is desirable “to develop as many companies already do spontaneous pause spaces, calm spaces which allow employees to make micro-sests”.

“It is not a question of imposing measures which would be impracticable in certain companies, but I believe that in the context of CSR (corporate social responsibility), well-being at work, many companies have already thought about these questions and propose it,” he said.

The Minister of Health wants to “reaffirm” that the nap is “something rather positive in terms of health for the French and the French”.

According to the National Research and Security Institute (INRS), a 15-20-minute microsiete has immediate beneficial effects. It allows the increase in vigilance levels for several hours and decreases the risk of errors, work accidents and journeys.

The quality of sleep of degraded French

The figures put forward by the inter-ministerial roadmap report a fairly degraded table of the French sleep, obscured a little more in recent years with the omnipresence of screens and the destructuring impact of the COVVI-19 health crisis.

The sleeping duration of the population has been reduced by an average of 1:30 for 50 years, with an average duration for an adult in France of seven hours. One in five French people sleep less than six hours a night, and it is estimated that respectively 30 and 70 % of children and adolescents lack sleep.

Sleep degradation promotes the appearance of many pathologies, including mental or cardiovascular pathologies.

The roadmap plans in particular to strengthen awareness efforts for good sleep in consumer communication. It also plans to increase awareness among childhood professionals and the world of work, and to improve the location of sleep disorders in the population by forming and better equips professionals.
