This Wednesday, July 23, the 17ᵉ stage of the Tour de France will connect Bollène to Valence on a 160 kilometers route. A transition step before the Alps, with a rather flat profile. Everything seems to be together for a massive arrival at the sprint, boulevard Roosevelt. Here is everything you need to know to take advantage of this passage from the Grande Boucle in the Drôme.
From 1:30 p.m., the runners will leave the Vaucluse towards the Drôme. Two modest ascents punctuate the route – the Col du Pertuis and that of Tartaiguille – but should not upset the established order. On the other hand, a much more feared guest could play the spoilsport: the wind. Between Dieulefit and Chabeuil, the large straight lines exposed to the Mistral could upset the hierarchy of the favorites.
Because the stake is clear: this is probably the last opportunity for speed specialists before returning to the high mountains. Valencia, accustomed to the arrivals of the Tour, is already preparing to see the peloton tumbled at high speed, shortly after 5 p.m.

Throughout the route, the atmosphere promises to be festive. In Montmeyran, a stage village will welcome spectators with entertainment, giant screen and passage from the advertising caravan scheduled for 3 p.m. In Valence, the city center will be fully mobilized: participatory fresco, BMX demonstrations and presence of young local cyclists are on the program, pending runners.
Spectators are invited to come early. Traffic will be largely limited, especially near Chabeuil and Valence. The roads taken by the Tour will close about two hours before the runners, and will only reopen after the last vehicle in the race.
Deviations will be implemented, but the prefecture highly recommends the use of public transport or bicycle to reach the arrival areas.
The Tour de France will go up the Rhône Valley with a hook by the Diois massif.
