French-German bilingualism is strongly anchored in the canton of Friborg and the promotion of bilingual training sectors is a political choice. Young people in training in secondary schools of 2e degree benefit from privileged access to the partner language. The Friborg Hautes Schools also offer bilingual training. The mastery of a second national language consolidates the link between cultures and strengthens mutual understanding between the two linguistic communities, these two aspects of great importance in the professional world.
The concept of bilingual training within colleges allows students with good knowledge of the partner language to opt from the first year of studies for the bilingual training path (“more” class). Other students can choose to follow a branch taught in the partner language in the first year of gymnasium and integrate a “standard” bilingual class from the second year.
The bilingual training at the gymnasium, the full -time business school and the general culture school leads to a recognized bilingual certificate.
