We are a group of New Orleans jazz with variable geometry from 7 to 9 musicians. For most of us, we met at the Dijon Conservatory“. In two sentences, the decor is planted by Armelle, the soprano saxophonist of The Golden Coasters.

This training was created in 2018 around a common love for groove and the desire to play together on the pavement, on the outdoor markets. In Dijon, the regulars of the streets of Godrans and Bannelier have undoubtedly already beaten the measure by listening to this rhythmic, joyful and coppery music.

The street is a collective space and sharing par excellence. People stop to listen to 30 seconds or 30 minutes. Nothing is imposed. The atmosphere is less stowed. We can play with spectators, children who dance, go get them, make valvess. We meet beautiful“, Enthuses Lucas, the double bass player and founder of the group.

The Golden Coasters started by taking over a Ragtime and Jazz New Orleans repertoire from the beginning of the 20th century. It was within the framework of festivities to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.

But the group did not confine itself on the occasions. Some of its members quickly got composition based on themes and recurring patterns of the genre.

Even if the street remains their favorite playground, the idea of engraving this energy and this swing quickly germinated. The Golden Coasters are already in their third album with “”Nola you coin“Sort to May 2025.

So, do their songs sound like in New Orleans clubs and bars? “”There is a gap. How to play this music here in Burgundy without being ridiculous? Well, with humor and humility. We are inspired, we do like a little and especially our best“explains Lucas, who plans”out of delay“To browse Bourbon Street and Royal Street for the first time, the ears wide open.
