An elected UDC wants to punish too slow drivers.
KEYSTONE
We have all already found ourselves on the highway with a car in front of us which was rolling far too slowly, whether we are a driver or a passenger. Obviously, this is also the case of the national Walter Gartmann (UDC/SG): he filed a motion last Thursday, reports “20 minutes», In order to avoid these situations, which can sometimes cause patience to be lost.
For the elected official, traffic on highways and national roads “should no longer be disturbed by drivers driving at a snail speed, sometimes between 40 and 60 km/h”. He therefore wants a system to warn drivers who drive too slowly to be set up.
For those who do not rely on the fungus, “any non-compliance with the instructions would be liable to a fine”. A request which he motivates by the road safety of users and which could be put in place thanks to the radars, which could detect too low speeds.
The current law is enough?
But for the national councilor Martin Candinas (the center/GR), interviewed by the media, the current law already prohibits “creating without imperious reasons for obstacles to traffic”. In addition, it is already prohibited to borrow the highway if the vehicle drives cannot reach 80 km/h. Same story with other elected officials.
The same goes for the Transport and Environment association, which qualifies the phenomenon “extremely rare”. The chances of adopting the text of Walter Gartmann therefore seem rather weak.
