Employees of the W Montreal hotel sparked a surprise strike on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
The Syndicate of Workers of the establishment located in Old Montreal denounces the closure of the employer in recent days.
The hundred employees of the Montreal hotel have been in negotiations with their employer for six months. They mainly demand a salary increase of 23% over four years.
“We work in a luxurious hotel at more than $ 400 per night and we want to offer us less than several hotels in Montreal. It’s inconceivable. We are working hard and with heart for this hotel, we have the right to receive our share, “said the president of the union, Raphaël Gouin-Loubert, by press release.
The union wishes to put pressure on the employers’ part while a blitz of negotiations is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
“As part of the Hotels negotiation at the CSN, the other unions obtained at least 21% over 4 years. We are far from that here. The workers and workers of W Hotel Montreal want the same thing, “said the president of the Federation of Commerce – CSN, Serge Monette.
This is the second disengagement of employees of the W Montreal hotel this week. On Sunday at 11 p.m., employees had launched a 24 -hour strike.
