Switzerland is “more than ready” to organize a summit between Russia and Ukraine, Federal Foreign Advisor, Ignazio Cassis on Tuesday. The minister also added that Switzerland would offer “immunity” to Vladimir Putin if he “came for a peace conference”. Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron had proposed that such a meeting was held in Geneva, reports Albinfo.ch.
After Monday’s meeting at the White House with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several European leaders, US President Donald Trump said he “launched the preparations” of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. He added that a tripartite summit would then be held, in which he would also participate.
Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that he is “ready” for a bilateral meeting with Vladimir Putin in order to put an end to the war in Ukraine. The Russian president is also willing to meet his Ukrainian counterpart, according to the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz.
A meeting of the “volunteer coalition”, chaired by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, is expected to be held on Tuesday to discuss the “next steps”.
