The Tesla Model is experiencing a new setback in France there: after having recovered its accurate ecological bonus in June, it is already deprived of it because of the change of device. A mishap that complicates deliveries.
It is only a temporary inconvenience. Despite everything, it puts sticks in the wheels of the Y of Tesla in France, which should somewhat annoy the brand. But why is the restyled model finding itself again without helping purchase?
Everything comes from the brutal change between “ecological bonus” and “boost” (funded by energy savings certificates or EEC) on July 1. Tesla was taken over by the new conditions of the purchase aid, while the other car groups have already signed agreements in this direction.
Tesla has not yet agreed with an energy supplier
To benefit from the state -funded bonus, the manufacturers only had to meet the eligibility criteria. The introduction of the environmental score in 2024 nevertheless asked manufacturers a more complex administrative work. Nevertheless, once the eco score has been obtained, the manufacturers only had to enter customer files with the Service and Payment Agency (ASP) so that the bonus reimbursement procedure enters the queue.
Except that the government has just killed the ecological bonus on June 30, and the “boost” help that takes over requires that the manufacturers have signed an agreement with an actor in the energy sector to finance aid, through energy savings certificates. What Tesla has not yet achieved. Customers who waited for 1is July to order their Y Model, believing to benefit from more substantial help – of 3,100 or 4,200 € depending on the profile – will have to wait until Tesla signs an agreement before they can take delivery (or cancel their order to place another at the right time).
Rumors indicate that Tesla hopes to have completed the file by August. This is not too long before being able to recover a new vehicle, but which again postpones part of the deliveries unnecessarily.
Tesla late on other manufacturers?
The American manufacturer may not be the only one to have underestimated the importance of the EEC bonus launched at the start of the year. It is however the most visible to have missed on the subject.
It is to set up the EEC bonus (not to be confused with the boost) – useful in particular for companies – that European groups quickly established agreements with energy suppliers. The two groups Renault and Stellantis were the first to draw their agreement in March, they were prepared (and perhaps even warned upstream). But all the large car groups followed quickly in the following months: Volkswagen, BMW, Ford and Hyundai have also announced that they have signed agreements for a few weeks. These groups were therefore indirectly already prepared to go to the “boost” funded by the EEC.
In appearance, Tesla was not interested in the ECE bonus. It is one of the few manufacturers who did not develop it for its models. The company therefore found itself faced with a fait accompli when mid-June, the first government discussions announced a change in financing of the bonus at 1is July. By doing it so late, it was difficult to complete the signature of the agreement within such limited deadlines. Especially that you have to find an energy supplier that does not necessarily finance another automotive group, energy savings certificates are not infinitely extensible, or, Tesla can be a “large” customer in terms of purchase aid.
Some hiccups on the old bonus too
Tesla customers who ordered a large autonomy propulsion or propulsion model before June 30, for a vehicle delivered before September 30, remain under the operation of the old ecological bonus of 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 euros.
However, part of the customers who were delivered at the end of June – once the environmental score finally validated – received from the Service and Payment Agency (ASP) messages of refusal of care or requests for additional documents. Difficult to know if the problem comes from the ASP or the documents provided by Tesla (or the financier of the vehicle), this should still return to order, but for the moment these files remain in dispute. Definitely, Tesla is somewhat cursed with these aids.
