Test Razer Basilisk Mobile: Gaming mouse thought for the trip on the move

It has been 3 years since the Razer Basilisk Mouse range had not experienced a newcomer; If we exclude the increased sensor versions of the V3, its latest “real” model. For the mobile basilisk, it is on the side of iteration that the North American manufacturer is leaning rather than innovation. There is no question of waiting for soaring DPIs or new functions, the small mobile wants to be logically – a nomadic variation for players and players in need of “gamer” mouse during their trips to the sun, in grandmother or even in open -space; Here, we do not judge.

Launched in tandem with the Joro keyboard, the basilisk therefore put on pocket dimensions: 111.5 mm x 75.9 x 41.4 mm, all with 76 g on the scale. Inside, the Razer Focus X 18K sensor makes its first appearance, while the optical switches of the pimples are always from Gen-3, like the previous Basilisk V2 and V3.

As specified in the introduction, the basilisk contains its dimensions to easily slip into (almost) all the bags. Compared to its direct predecessor V3, the mobile basilisk is 14% shorter (111.5 against 130 mm), but the width order is comparable; See slightly to the advantage of the mobile (75.9 against 75 mm). The difference is much more marked on the scale, the mobile basilisk displaying 76 g: it is much less than the V3 (101 g), but more than the brand -focused models of the brand, such as Viper V3 Pro (54 g) and the very recent Deathadder V4 Pro (57 g).

In practice, this difference in weight did not challenge us; The mobile basilisk remains perfectly handy and filled the specifications expected on a transportable mouse… for the hands with modest build. Its shortened length is suited without problems with smaller licks – like those of your humble servant – but users with long fingers followers of the palm grip will have to use their interior phalanges to click on the 2 main buttons. A concern that feels less if you go to Claw Grip, but long -term fatigue seems inevitable.

… the big ones, not so much.

Like a classic basilisk, this mobile iteration has a very comfortable textured rubber coating on its sides. The generational rupture is nevertheless seen on the secondary pimples of its left face – it is no longer two, but three buttons that arise under the thumb. The 2 front buttons are by default assigned to conventional commands (front and rear return), but the third button launches Ai prompt master, the new assistant by Assistant by generative artificial intelligence of Razer. A shortcut towards a more than dispensable software which had already tired us on the pro Click V2 vertical a few months ago, and which makes an unwanted return to the mobile basilisk.

No worries, the command is easily customizable on Razer Synapse software. However, it would have been appreciable to keep a more standard two button arrangement, as this third button, partially located on the interior reinforcement of the mouse, is difficult to access without contorting its thumb. Its appearance was thought, it is imagined, to compensate for the absence of the “sniper button”, however synonymous with the Basilisk range, which we found at the end of the thumb on the basilisk V2 and V3. It made it possible to temporarily cap the sensitivity of the mouse by going to a lower DPI – perfect for microphones for sniper for a FPS, for example. Its withdrawal in favor of a third slice button does not play in favor of the mobile.

Still in the ray of sacrifices, we note the absence of RGB lighting on the base of the mouse, the Loupiotes de Kéké being now relegated to the simple illumination of the brand logo on the cylinder head. The wheel, too, has seen the disappearance of its dynamic scrolling (or “Smart-Reel Mode” for the diplomas of the TOEIC), and is now clear that leaves the pressure of the dedicated button placed at its end. No particular remark to be noted on the vertical scrolling of the dial, always precise in notched mode, but somewhat susceptible to opposite micro-places in free mode. That we reassure ourselves, the horizontal scrolling is also back.

In all and for everything, the basilisk therefore has 10 programmable buttons … on one and the same internal memory profile. A limitation which we did not expect, as the “modern” mice offers at least three slots of internal memory to assign different profiles of orders with buttons. To take advantage of several configurations, it will be necessary to leave the Synapse program in the background; Impossible on Steam Deck, yet one of the devices highlighted for the mobile basilisk on the Razer site. It will be necessary, beforehand, choose the right profile on another compatible machine (Windows or MacOS) before going to the valve machine.

Versatile, the mobile basilisk has three different connectivity modes: wired (a USB-C to USB-A braided cable is included), Bluetooth or via Dongle Radio 2.4 GHz “Razer Hyperspeed Wireless”. It is the latter that must be favored to minimize latency and connection interference, at the cost of a reduced autonomy of almost half compared to Bluetooth (105 against 180 hours).
