The beginnings of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 on Geekbench ring the death knell of the exynos 2600

After months of leaks, rumors and speculation, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has finally surfaced on Geekbench. He arrives a little before the month when Qualcomm plans to unveil it at the end of September. We also have an overview of the flagship product of Samsung, the Galaxy S26 Edgede Samsung, whose code name is SM-S947U. Therefore, the chip in question here is probably the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy.

He obtained 3,393 points in the geekbench 6.4 and 11,515 points monocor test in the multicœur test. The first is just over 10 % faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite (3.087/8.571). It is far from being as impressive as the leaks suggested it. However, a glance at the geekbench backend reveals that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy in question does not run at full speed, with its processor maintained at 4.0 GHz instead of the clock boosted at 4.74 GHz. It is clear that a large part of the performance is not there, but you should expect this from a pre-production sample.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 specifications

Like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 uses a 6+2 processor, the hearts of reaching 3.63 GHz. The SME (Scalable Matrix Extension) instructions) is also supported, as allowed by previous leaks. The Galaxy S26 Edge sample in question has 12 GB of RAM and operates on Android 16, probably a preliminary version of One UI 8.0.

The list above does not bother anything good for the exynos 2600 of Samsung Exynos 2600. Although he beat the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in the results of Geekbenchmais his performance was not brilliant. In addition, if the Galaxy S26 Edge uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, it is reasonable to assume that the rest of the S26 Edge range uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Galaxy S26 will do the same. This is excellent news for end users, but less for Samsung Foundry.
