The Canadian Armed Forces drop humanitarian aid in Gaza

August 4, 2025 – Ottawa (Ontario) – World Affairs Canada

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Anita Anand, and the Minister of National Defense, the Honorable David McGuinty, announced today that the Canadian Armed Forces (FAC) have provided additional humanitarian aid to Gaza in order to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people. FACs used a CC – 1130J Hercules aircraft to make an essential humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.

FACs used a CC-130J Hercules aircraft to make an aerial drop in essential humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, in support of Global Business Canada. Aerial release consisted in 21,600 pounds of aid.

Canada takes these exceptional measures due to severe restrictions that limit access to humanitarian aid in Gaza and humanitarian needs that have reached an unprecedented level. Despite the magnitude of the needs, humanitarian partners come up against serious difficulties in sending land and vital medical aid by the ground due to the restrictions imposed by the Israeli government. This opposition to the delivery of aid constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and must stop immediately.

A considerable increase in humanitarian aid is necessary in order to improve the humanitarian conditions of Palestinians and Palestinian. Canada reiterates its calls to guarantee safe and undoubted access to humanitarian organizations, including the opening of all crossing points, acceleration of customs formalities and the entry of all humanitarian goods in Gaza, as well as the issuance of long -term visa for humanitarian staff.

Canada thanks Jordan for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid essential to Gaza. Canada remains firmly determined to promote peace and stability in the region and will intensify its efforts with international partners to achieve this objective. The two -state solution, according to which the Israeli and Palestinian peoples live side by side, remains the only viable path to a just and lasting peace.

FACs are ready to respond to priorities and requests for help from the Government of Canada whenever they are called.
