On Thursday August 7, we visited four stores belonging to different channels, including branches located in Lévis and Quebec. So we went to shop at the wholesale office in Lévis, Walmart and Dollorama in Vanier, as well as Jean Coutu in Saint-Sacrament.
We have brought a list of school supplies for the second secondary school in Roger-Comtois high school, one of the most popular establishments in Quebec, as well as a list for the first year provided by the Charles-Rodrigue school and pixels, the largest primary school in Lévis.
Yes, but no
At first glance, the rays of the shops are filled with school equipment, with yellow discount labels which extend as far as the eye can see.
However, by following the lists to the letter, we note that some available items do not quite correspond to what is requested.
For example, a package of 24 super tip fertures does not necessarily include beige color, which is however specifically indicated in compulsory products. It was necessary either to buy the 50 package or the money pencils with the colors of the world. Which costs more, of course.
And beware, the stick of glue must imperatively weigh 40 grams or more.
The rainbow of duo-tangs
A slightly more close to the list makes it possible to simplify life and even save a few money.
For example, cardboard duo-tangs at Walmart are sold only 22 under each, while those in plastic, required by the school, cost $ 3.48 each. When you ask you eight, the price difference becomes significant.
And these duo-tangs, they must be of different colors: a black for music, a purple for English, orange must have pockets, etc.
In small shops, like Jean Coutu or Dollorama, there are not all the colors requested, with all the specificities required, unlike large -area stores.
A difficult object to find
After meticulously searched each corner of the Walmart, the Coutu and the Dollorama, The sun did not manage to get their hands on the famous “poly binding pocket, three holes, with velcro attachment”.
An article that gives a lot of a hard time to several parents.
Several round trips to the office wholesale later, an employee finally accompanied us to an display in the center of an alley, where the so-seeed object was.

The amounts indicated below correspond to the cheapest items found in the stores, including the discounts in force on the day of our visit.
You will notice that products such as two -inch satchels and padlocks can sometimes increase the bill to certain stores.
In addition, to make the comparison easier, we excluded certain items that were not available in all the shops visited.
