The French team SAILGP more motivated than ever in Sassnitz

“We are here in Sassnitz more determined than ever. The team has made a beautiful day of navigation today on board the F50. The memory of Portsmouth remains marking but this technical concern should be resolved and is now behind. We will not let go of Abu Dhabi.” explains Stephan Kandler, co-ceo of K-Challenge.

This Sassnitz Grand Prix is also an opportunity to sail Camille Lecointre, a double Olympic medalist, as part of the K-Challenge Women’s Pathway program, intended to develop the career of female athletes, particularly in the SAILGP championship. The idea is to allow him to continue to familiarize himself with the F50 in all positions and to be able to train effectively, during an additional day of navigation before the official kick -off of the Sail Grand Prix. “It was a beautiful day of training, we sailed 4 hours in fairly light conditions so in configuration at 4 on board. I was able to be in front of the grind at the same time with the jib adjustment and also make a little time at the helm. In these conditions, not easy to take off but every minute on board is precious for my progress,” concludes Camille Lecointre, Tactician France Sailg.

Saturday, August 16 and Sunday 17, the 12 catamarans will therefore meet for this 8th Sail Grand Prix of season 5. The Baltic Sea water, bordered by the emblematic cliffs of Rügen and the spectacular Sassnitz pier, will offer both picturesque and demanding for shopping. In the middle of the nautical arena, the French intend to fight until the last edge, without letting go.

Kick -off this weekend – to follow closely!
