The Lombard Odier Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary

“While we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Foundation, we turn to new challenges, daring projects and powerful alliances that will allow us to continue to promote sustainable transition,” explains Hubert Keller.

The Lombard Odier Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary and launches a program to finance international environmental projects

The Lombard Odier Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary and announces the launch of a new environmental program, stressing its long -term commitment in favor of strategic philanthropy. Based on two decades of experience in the financing of targeted projects, the Foundation will support international initiatives from 2025 combining climate protection and tangible societal benefits. The program will focus on the implementation of new partnerships with organizations such as the World Meteorological Organization (OMM), the London Zoological Society (ZSL) and the Giving to Amplify Earth Action Awards (GAEA), with the aim of making innovation, the use of climatic data, the protection of biodiversity and the strengthening of protected areas in the world.

Between strategic philanthropy and sustainable impact: an innovation and transformation catalyst

The Lombard Odier Foundation was created in 2004 in order to bring together the philanthropic activities of founding families and those of the group. Since then, the Foundation has embodied the humanist values of Lombard Odier and pursues long -standing philanthropic actions of founding families with an innovative vision of philanthropy – a tradition dating back to the middle of the 19th century. To date, she has supported nearly 350 projects and institutions in Switzerland and abroad.

The foundation’s mission is to promote the efficiency, creativity and innovation of its project partners in order to generate a lasting impact, in particular in the fields of the environment and humanitarian aid. Based on the presence of the group in Geneva for over 200 years, the Foundation is also involved in initiatives at local anchoring. In parallel, it actively undertakes to advance the field of philanthropy in Switzerland in order to release the potential for social progress in the sector in the decades to come.
Its action going beyond financial support, the Foundation also acts as a facilitator and integrator in each project. Given the major challenges within its areas of action, it focuses more on the establishment of partnerships and the promotion of co -financing. Thus, it aims to increase its global impact by supporting projects with a power of transformation and by applying its financial expertise where it can lead to a lasting change.

Scientist, in an international network, strategically effective: the new environmental program of the Foundation

To mark its 20th anniversary, the Lombard Odier Foundation sends a strong signal of its long -term commitment in favor of environmental protection: with the launch of a new program, it supports projects based on scientific bases, having a social impact and which can be extended worldwide. The selection of initiatives is based on two decades of practical and strategic experience of the Foundation, in particular by applying approaches that have proven to be the most impactful in the real world. The Foundation therefore focuses on projects presenting an obvious added value for the communities concerned, a strong potential for innovation and the ability to mobilize other partners.

For example, the Foundation supports a project of the World Meteorological Organization (OMM) in order to provide humanitarian organizations with precise climatic and meteorological data in order to improve planning and logistical supply in refugee camps. The targeted use of scientific data makes it possible to detect risks earlier and implement more effective protective measures – an approach that benefits both people in the field and the efficiency of humanitarian aid.

Another project supports the scientific work of Zoological Society of London (ZSL) to clearly determine the geographic origin of tropical woods and natural rubber using chemical analyzes and satellite data. This approach aims to ensure the traceability of supply chains and strengthen the application of environmentally friendly standards. The project makes an important contribution to the implementation of international environmental standards and to the protection of threatened ecosystems.

The Foundation has also teamed up with the Giving to Amplify Earth Action Awards (GAEA), awarded by the World Economic Forum (WEF), to reward innovative collaborations promoting a change in environmental and climate change system. Scientific advances and intersectoral collaboration are essential to make decisive progress in many areas such as the decarbonization of rice production or the manufacture of steel without fossil fuels.

Hubert Keller, president of the Lombard Odier Foundation and senior partner of the Lombard Odier group, says: “While we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Foundation, we are proud of past achievements and we turn to new challenges, daring projects and powerful alliances that will allow us to continue to promote the sustainable transition.”

Dr. Maximilian Martin, Global Head of Philanthropy of the Lombard Odier group and secretary general of the Lombard Odier Foundation, adds: “Our birthday was an opportunity to think about the initiatives that really work in philanthropic practice. We concentrate our support where several elements converge: an early commitment, expert partners and an innovative thought. The new environmental program perfectly illustrates this approach and marks the start of a long -term commitment in favor of systemic solutions in the environment. ”
