The Netherlands Embassy recommends vaccination before travel to Morocco

While Morocco continues to attract Dutch holidaymakers, the Netherlands Embassy in Rabat urges travelers, especially families, to ensure that their children are vaccinated against measles before leaving for their summer stay.

In an update published on Wednesday, the Dutch Foreign Ministry warned against an epidemic of measles in progress in Morocco, encouraging health authorities to recommend rapid immunization for children.

“Provide in time vaccination against measles for your child and travel with a valid passport,” advised Maria Argoubi, principal manager of consular affairs, in a statement highlighting the essential precautions for Dutch travelers.

Although Morocco remains a safe and welcoming destination, the embassy encourages tourists to consult the latest advice and visit the sites of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the National Coordination Center for Travelers (LCR) to obtain updated health guidelines, especially concerning measles.

It should be noted that Morocco has increased cases of measles in recent months, which has required the launch of local vaccination campaigns to curb the propagation.

In the Netherlands, many infections reported in children were linked to travel to Morocco, or diagnosed shortly after returning from vacation there.
