The reconstruction of global coffee stocks could require at least two fruitful harvests after several years of deficits in the balance of Offer-Demande, sector officials said on Friday during the Coffee Dinner & Summit organized in Brazil.

World coffee prices have reached a record level earlier this year, due to supply problems and demand that remains sustained.
Even with an abundant harvest expected next season in Brazil, the world’s leading producer and exporter, this should not bring immediate relief to coffee consumers.

“I do not think that (the sector will be able to) reconstruct stocks between this year and next year. We would take us at least two good harvests, “said Luiz Fernando Dos Reis, a commercial superintendent of the Brazilian cooperative Cooxupé, in Reuters on the sidelines of the event.
“To find the level of stocks of four years ago, it will take at least two years of very good harvests, if everything is going well,” said Charles Chiapolino, Director of Café Research at Louis Dreyfus Company.
“And we know how difficult it is to maintain favorable climatic conditions worldwide for two consecutive years, it’s almost impossible,” added Chiapolino.
“Currently, no one can constitute stocks while demand remains stable, or even increases in certain countries,” said German Bahamon, director general of the National Federation of Coffee Producers in Colombia.

Luiz Fernando Dos Reis, Coxupé – the largest coffee cooperative in the world – said that even if Brazil has a major harvest during the 2026/27 season, the next one should not be as good, the main variety cultivated in the country, Arabica, alternating according to a biennial and low cycle of yields.
