The Swiss will have to rule on three objects during the popular vote of November 30, the Federal Council announces Tuesday. The sovereign will have to decide if he wants to introduce a citizen service for all, if he wants to impose successions to reinvest in favor of the climate and if he accepts more indirect support for media publishers.
The initiative “For a Swiss that is committed” (Citizen Service Initiative) – that Parliament and the Federal Council recommend rejecting – asks that all the young Swiss, women and men, are committed to the benefit of the community and the environment. The commitment could be made within the army, civil service, civil protection or other militia service. Financial compensation must be provided.

The popular socialist youth initiative “for a social climate policy funded in a fairly fiscally” (initiative for the future) notably requires a 50% tax on successions and donations from an exempt amount of 50 million francs. This tax should be used to finance climatic measures.

The project had no chance in Parliament. The fear is widespread that succession in family businesses be made difficult or impossible by high tax. Opponents also warned of income and fortune tax losses, because the new tax could scare away the richest.
Media aid referendum
If the 50,000 signatures necessary for the referendum are collected by July 10, voters will finally be able to rule on November 30 on the press aid, the amount of which was increased by Parliament. An out -of -party committee around “Team Liberté” launched a referendum against this project to modify the post office law at the end of April.
