The Venezuelan Parliament supports the president, speaking “assault”

The United States has announced that they have doubled the premium for the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, charged by the American justice for drug trafficking and whose re-election, was not recognized by Washington.

The Venezuelan National Assembly brought this support for President Nicolás Maduro this Saturday, August 9, August 9, August 9, believing that the increase in the American reward for his capture was a “assault”.

The United States prosecutor’s office announced Thursday that it had doubled the premium for the arrest of President Maduro on Thursday, charged by the American justice for drug trafficking and whose re-election was not recognized by Washington. “We reject the absurd and desperate actions announced by the Prosecutor’s office in the United States, manifestly illegal and without any real basis, outside the attempted aggression against the President […] Maduro, and against our rebellious and courageous people ”said the president of the assembly Jorge Rodriguez, reading a letter approved unanimously by the deputies, according to him.

“The protector of the solid democracy that protects us”

“President Nicolás Maduro […] is the protector of the solid democracy that protects us and the leader who directs with a firm hand the rule of law and justice ”continued Jorge Rodriguez, who is also the chief negotiator of Venezuela during discussions with Washington. “In 25 years of revolution, we have resisted and advanced despite the constant imperialist assaults. They did not succeed, and will not succeed with coarse sanctions, criminal blockade and even less with insane threats, to divert the noble path that the Venezuelan people gave themselves during the free elections of July 28, 2024, where Nicolás Maduro was elected President of the Republic “according to the text.

The Venezuelan opposition, which shouts in fraud, claims the victory for the presidential election and has for this reason boycotted the legislative, regional and municipal elections of 2025. Post-electoral disorders ended in 28 dead and 2,400 arrests. Some 2,000 people have since been released, according to official figures. Nicolás Maduro’s victory was not recognized by a large part of the international community.

Washington wants to oust Nicolás Maduro from power and economically suffocate Venezuela. But, after hardening the oil embargo, he also authorized the oil giant Chevron to operate in a limited manner and negotiated the release of Americans detained in the country. The government of Nicolás Maduro has long denounced an interference from the United States in Venezuelan affairs.
