“The world looks at us”: the Danish presidency of the EU and the European environment commissioner Jessika Roswall called on Tuesday in Geneva to a compromise in negotiations for an agreement against plastic pollution.
(Keystone-ATS) “We need global solutions,” Danish Minister Magnus Heunick told the press. “The future generations are looking at us,” he added, admitting that the gap between some of the more than 170 states that have been negotiating for a week in Geneva was “wide”.
“The more we wait, the more difficult it will be to reach, he said when the talks end on Thursday. “We cannot miss this historic opportunity,” added the European Commissioner.
Calling “everyone” to compromise, she, like her colleague, has not detailed the European red lines. Dozens of ministers and senior officials were expected to meet Tuesday and Wednesday in informal formats. Federal advisor Albert Rösti is expected on Wednesday in Geneva.
