Barely out of 1 p.m. police custody, this Monday at 9:30 p.m., Christian Estrosi responded to the requests of Nice-Matin.
In a hot interview, the mayor of Nice attacks his opposition which he considers responsible for his judicial disentures. Three opponents of the environmental group had indeed carried out a report denouncing the payment by the commune of subsidies to the 2023 edition of the Nice Climate Summit to which his wife, the columnist Laura Tenoudji, was to animate three round tables.
“These elected officials have no qualms, asserts the mayor of Nice. They do not hesitate to attack my family, my journalist wife, who is suspected of everything because I do politics. I remind you that since 2008, Nice continues to shine, to gain momentum, by welcoming the greatest events in France, Europe and the whole planet, including a certain number organized by the France Télévisions group, the public channel of our country, such as the 2015, 2018 and 2019 music festival. Without forgetting that we were the national city of the Telethon. And finally the Junior Eurovision in 2023, or the Plateau de France Télévisions led by Hugo Clément and Léa Salamé on the evening of the Ocean summit in Nice. “
“No breach, no fault, nothing …”
“Today, attacking my wife, more than me, simply because she is a journalist, contractual, employee of France Télévisions for over 20 years, and that I have been the mayor carrying these events with the public channel of our country, it is simply attacking, beyond my wife, in Nice and in the Niçois”, denounces Christian Estrosi who claims to be “serene”. “Because the facts speak for themselves”, he assures. “No breach, no fault, nothing that can taint our commitment to Nice.”
“We have always acted in the interest of our city and the Nice, and their only general interest, never for my personal interests or those in my family”, promises the elected Nice who in passing intends to testify to the members of his administration who were also placed in police custody this Monday “all [son] respect and [son] admiration” car “Without them we could not have organized events of this quality”.
Christian Estrosi assures that after these 13 hours of police custody his “Determination is intact”. “I have always been fighting for Nice and nothing will stop me.” The city councilor is addressed directly to its citizens: “I am your mayor. I will continue to be by your side on the field every day, tomorrow morning, day of my 70 years, to ensure your safety, improve your quality of life and build the future of our city. These attacks strengthen me. They prove that our action disturbs those who prefer controversy in the general interest. With you, I remain more than ever mobilized for Nice.”
