Toulouse researchers recruit volunteers for an aging prevention program. The objective is to show that one can gain between ten and twenty years of healthy life and therefore to delay the loss of autonomy.
In Toulouse, we want to age! For several years, researchers have been working with the conviction that it is possible to age by remaining as long as possible in good health. It is the heart of the IHU Healthage project, the Research Institute carried the Gérontopôle du CHU de Toulouse, the Inserm and the University of Toulouse.
Professor Yves Rolland’s team is currently competing for the Prix de la Fondationique Xprize. She is one of the 40 winners who hope to win, after 7 years, the jackpot of $ 101 million. It already benefits, for the first part of its intense ICOP study, from an endowment of $ 250,000. Its objective is to demonstrate that it is possible to delay the effects of aging in an individual from ten to twenty years, thanks to a physical activity program, cognitive training and psychological and nutritional support.

To be able to quickly start their work, the Toulouse team is currently recruiting volunteers. She is looking for autonomous people, aged 65 to 85, sedentary, who lack strength, complain about memory and are overweight. They will follow a 60 -day program which should make it possible to intervene on these first signs of fragility.
“After 60 days of program, we see profits”
“Our program is ambitious since it targets the slowdown in the biological process of aging. After 60 days, we already feel beneficial effects. Beyond their participation in research, volunteers will benefit, we give them a boost to help them integrate a routine of activity and hygiene of life in their daily lives. These works must allow this generation of seniors and the following to age. The objective is to continue to do what you like until late in your life.
