The tropics are under surveillance and attention is mainly turned towards the Atlantic basin. For what? A tropical storm may well see the light of day, by Saturday. It would then be the first tropical cyclone of the year to have repercussions in the United States. Explanations.
It swirls in the tropics
Since the beginning of the year, Andrea and Barry have both had the time of glory in the Atlantic Ocean. They are, in fact, the two storms named from 2025 so far, in this basin.
What will be the next disruption to receive a name? In order to be named, tropical depression must have winds blowing at least 63 km/h. She then becomes a tropical storm and it is there that she receives her name. Well, the chances are increasingly good than such an event occurs in the Atlantic basin! Moreover, at the end of the day on Friday, this disruption becomes the third official tropical depression to form this year in the Atlantic basin.
Potential effects on the American coast

This possible tropical storm, which could be called Chantal, would therefore become the third in the Atlantic basin to receive a name this year. It would also be ahead since normal for the formation of a third system named is August 3.
