Two children, aged 7 and 8, were found lifeless on Saturday August 4 at around 7 p.m., in an above -ground swimming pool located in the garden of a pavilion in the town of Antibes.
Their disappearance had been reported a few hours earlier by their families, worried not to see them come back after they had been seen for the last time playing outside.
According to the first reports of the Grasse prosecution, it was by carrying out research in the vicinity that the emergency services and the police discovered the two bodies“under the protective cover usually deposited next to the pool“.
Despite the rapid intervention of firefighters, the children could not be resuscitated.

According to the first observations, the track of an accidental drama is privileged. The autopsies practiced on Monday strengthened this hypothesis: “At this stage, they invite to rule out any intervention of a third party and to retain the hypothesis of an accidental drowning.”
Anatomo-pathological and toxicological analyzes are nevertheless underway to complete the exams.
The Public Prosecutor of Grasse specifies that the investigation opened for the cause of death will continue “In the coming weeks”and that no judicial decision can be made as long as all the elements have not been analyzed.
