Ottawa – Two journalists working for Iran International in Canada are among the dozens of people targeted by regime officials in recent weeks, according to the network.
Iran International is an important online diffuser that covers news in Iran and its diaspora, including antigo -government demonstrations which, according to its defenders, are censored in Iran.
Network spokesperson Adam Baillie says the Canadian police asked a journalist to take security precautions after receiving messages that could be removed and taken out of Canada.
Another journalist reports that the Iranian authorities intimidate his relatives in Iran because of their work in Canada.
The network makes these threats known a week after Canada and more than a dozen other countries denounced “attempts at the Iranian intelligence services to kill, remove and harass people”, in particular Jewish journalists and citizens.
The Canadian press has requested comments from the Iranian diplomatic mission to the United Nations, but has not yet received an answer.
