“Unfair” practices: thousands of hotels in Europe continue Booking.com

The popular Voyage Booking.com website is targeted by a major collective action in Europe concerning “unfair practices” which would have taken place between 2004 and 2024.

Thousands of old continent hotels allege that the online reservations giant would have prohibited the establishments present on its platform to offer lower prices on other sites, including on their own websites.

In a press release, the instigator of this prosecution, Hotrec, mentions that Booking.com would have violated European law by placing many hotels in a situation of “important competitive disadvantage”.

More than 10,000 hotels have already joined this initiative, according to what reports The Guardian.

Booking.com would not have yet received an official notice concerning this prosecution.

The company based in the Netherlands argles that the press releases of Hotrec would be “incorrect” and “misleaded”.

In an email sent to the English media, the multinational indicates that its practices respect European law.

Booking.com, whose value is estimated at $ 313 billion CA, has become a must for many hotels worldwide in recent years in terms of discoverage, in particular.

If this pursuit goes before the courts, it will be one of the most important in the history of the European hotel sector.
