Your holidays are approaching (finally) fast and you planned to go to Spain – or make at least one stopover there? If you took the plane, this new risk of moving your plans, or even upsetting your leave.
From August 15, 2025 and until the end of the yeara strike affects Azul Handling, a branch of the Ryanair group in Spain and, by extension, many airports in the country. Of the delays, even of the cancellations Flights are expected for almost six months.
What are affected airports?
Ryanair is one of the major airlines in Spain. In a statement published Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) union, which was the source of the strike, announced that it would touch “all the bases and all the work centers” of the Azul Handling group in Spain.
Also, if we base ourselves on the implantation map of Ryanair in Spain, we must expect difficulties to the airports of:
- Madrid ;
- Barcelona;
- Valence ;
- Seville;
- Malaga ;
- Ibiza ;
- Palma de Mallorca;
- Gérone ;
- Tenerife ;
- Santiago ;
- Lanzarote ;
- Saint-Jacques-de-Compostela;
- Alicante ;
- Murcie.
And disturbances level, the UGT specifies that the strike will drive on three slots: 5 a.m.-9 a.m., 12 p.m.-5 p.m. and finally 9 p.m.-23 h 59. “After the first three days (August 15, 16 and 17), [la grève] will continue every Wednesday, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays until December 31, 2025, ”adds the union.
Why this mobilization?
Through this mobilization of several months, the aeronautical branch of the UGT (FesMC-UGT) intends to put pressure in order to obtain better working conditions and better employment of employment. Concretely, its press release denounces:
- “The absence of stable jobs and consolidation of working time for permanent part -time staff.
- The taxation and constraint to perform overtime, both ordinary and voluntary, with application in certain cases of disproportionate sanctions.
- The repeated non-compliance with the decisions of the joint committee of the sectoral convention on guarantees and premiums.
- The illegal restrictions on reinstatement after sick leave and the adaptation of working time to exercise the right to family conciliation. »»
What if I am concerned?
Ouch, did you go through Ryanair for your vacation this summer? The daily The mail assures that travelers whose flights are affected by the strike must have received (or will soon receive) an email or an SMS to warn them – and reprogram the journey if the flight has been canceled.
