The 2025 apricot harvest of Valais promises to be higher than the average of the last fifteen years. According to first estimates, it should reach 9000 tonnes, thanks to favorable climatic conditions.
“Flowering started in March and spring has proven to be particularly warm and sunny. Two factors that favored apricot harvests, even if we were surprised by snow in the plain of April 17, “explains Olivier Borgeat, secretary general of the Valais fruits and vegetables (IFELV).
The 2025 harvest should thus reach around 9000 tonnes, a volume greater than the average of the last fifteen years (7,500 tonnes), according to a press release from theIfelv broadcast on Monday.
Currently, Vergers Valaisans cover 664 hectares, including 99 of them in organic production (15%). A constantly increasing figure. Valais cultivates a hundred varieties of apricots although the majority of production focuses on 25 varieties.
