What is the problem?

A large reminder campaign is preparing at Renault. But what is the concern and which cars are affected?

Recall campaigns are common in the automotive industry, and all manufacturers are concerned. But what does it consist of? In fact, it’s very simple. When a mark identifies a design concern on a large amount of cars, it organizes a recall. The goal? Correct the problem as quickly as possible. Because in some cases, the latter can endanger the occupants of the vehicle. Or other road users. And anyway, it should not be taken lightly. After Stellantis or Fordit is therefore the turn of Renault to launch a large campaign.

A large reminder at Renault

But don’t alarmed yourself right away if you have a car from the brand. Indeed, Renault should only set up this recall campaign at the start of the school year. But the least we can say is that it will be quite massive. And for good reason, they are no less than 155,000 cars which will be concerned, as the capital site recalls. But then, what was the problem that was identified by the manufacturer? Well, the cause is now known. In fact, it is‘A mechanical concern On some hybrid and rechargeable hybrid models.

And it is the 1.6 hybrid enginelaunched in 2020, which is at the heart of this case. Since its marketing, the latter has shown signs of weakness. Over time, some parts cause overheating. And in the most serious cases, the gearbox can also be affected. Thus, to avoid new incidents, Renault prefers to act in prevention. There are many models concerned. We find for example the Clio 5, the Captur 2, the Arkana, the Megane 4 and some copies of the Dacia Jogger.

An important reminder

To tell the truth, Renault takes things seriously and has already started working on this recall campaign. Thus, since the summer of 2024, the manufacturer has already replaced many transmissions. But faced with the extent of the problem, the latter sparked a special technical operation, which is none other than this campaign. This measure makes it possible to fully cover the cost of repairs for customers. Thus, everything is supported by the tricolor brand and you will not have to pay if you are concerned. But then, what is the operation? Well, the garages must check the tightness of the transmission.

This inspection aims for a specific element: the toric seal of the hollow primary tree located in the electric motor. If the latter holds well, the car can leave immediately. But if the oil manages to enter the electric part, the risk increases. The machine can overheat and lose traction at start -up. This defect can therefore affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle. Renault announces that 155,825 vehicles registered between April 5, 2019 and September 26, 2022 are concerned. The garages will intervene in two steps. The first is to verify and update HEVC and HECM calculators. This update must improve the sustainability of the whole.

The second step, if necessary, will be replacing the defective part. This change will depend on the availability of components, which Renault will have to order.
