It will therefore be the fifth time that the Tour has laid out from the North, a land of cycling and cradle of the legendary Paris-Roubaix race. The big departure had already been given to Lille in 1960 and 1994, in Roubaix in 1969 and in Dunkirk in 2001. For four days, the peloton will travel the Hauts-de-France, with departures from Lauwin-Planque, Valenciennes and Amiens.

3,338 km of course, 52,500 m of elevation and final in Paris
This year, the Tour will visit 11 regions as well as 34 departments. The highest point of this edition will be the Col de la Loze (2,304 m altitude). The total distance of the route will be 3,338 km, and the runners will face no less than 52,500 m of cumulative positive elevation.
The Grande Boucle will end on Sunday July 27 in Paris. With an unprecedented final: three climbing Montmartre climbing before arrival in the Champs-Élysées.
