Why could it be the beginning of a revolution

The first (real) male contraceptive pill, baptized YCT-529, has achieved a first clinical test on 16 men, according to the results of a study published in late July. A major step for research … and for the balance of the mental load that is contraception.

This is a little unnoticed study, published on July 22 on the Catimini on the “Medicine Communications” site – which relays the results of scientific studies of English -speaking researchers -, but immediately relayed by the American site Live Science and then by Slate. And for good reason: a major step has just been taken in research concerning contraception.

For the first time, a male contraceptive pill was tested on humans and validated without side effects. A first clinical trial, concerning 16 volunteers, successful and whose results have exceeded the hopes of scientists.

Scientifically, a big step for research

These last two decades, several Western researchers, in Europe and the United States, want to establish a real pill for men. And an American team is about to succeed. Yourchoice Therapeutics, a Californian pharmaceutical company, therefore published the “encouraging” results of tests on its medication baptized today YCT-529.

Taken by 16 men over periods of 28 or 90 days, at the rate of one tablet per day, this pill …
