Winners in Canada, these devils continue to write history

Beat Canada on its land. This is the performance achieved by the XV of Belgium at the Edmonton Clarke Stadium during the second test game of its summer tour. After flashes in the first half, the Belgians have overall mastered the second to win and write a new page of history.

After the victoria against Portugal in February 2024, after success in the Netherlands in March synonymous with fifth place in REC 2025 and after the qualification for the World Recovery Tournament for the World Cup, the Belgian XV was therefore imposed in Canada. Even if Canada has so far lost a little of its superb, dominating it at home is nonetheless a big result.

From the start of the game at the Clarke Stadium of Edmonton, Canada has also sought to put speed in its game. Belgium thus made its back in the first minutes, like the first fray. At the 7th, the Canadians then opened the brand on penalty (3-0).

Under pressure, the Belgians also committed too many mistakes at the start of the game. However, they replied sharply, in the 13th, by scoring the first trial of the match on their first foray into the 22 locals. As in front of the United States a week earlier, Matias stir (repositioned at the opening) pierced the defense to send his brother Florian in the in-goal (3-7).

The scenario of the first half looked like that of the first test match against the United States, with a dominating Canada and a Belgium getting back in defense but undergoing. The Canucks concretized in the 22nd of a test thanks to a diagonal at the foot above the Belgian defense (8-7).

Very dangerous on ball recovery, the devils took over three minutes later. Isaac Montoisy served a soenen Simeon launched in space and who was going to plant the second black-yellow-red trial (8-12). It was still Canada that turned out at the break, thanks to a tent on balloon worn shortly after half an hour (13-12).

The beginning of the second period turned out to be significantly less intense. Initially, Belgium did not materialize a big weather at one meter from the in-goal and even found itself 14 following the yellow card of Florian stir. However, it was only awarded back: barely mounted in the game, Hugo de Francq delivered a transversal to the masterful foot which found Soenen at the wing for the third Belgian test (13-19), in the 53rd.

Our compatriots continued in the same tone. Now disciplined, they sanctioned Canadian errors. And dug the gap of a penalty of DE Francq at the time of play (13-22). The black devils took the ascendant in the process and even allowed themselves to manage the last 20 minutes.

After a drop on the post 10 minutes from the end, from Francq passed a new penalty in the 75th. The start of Canada pride, in the form of a last test, arrived too late. Dominating over the whole of the second half, Belgium was indeed 25 to 18 at the end of two half-time at the very different physiognomy. The men of Laurent Dossat will have had the merit of clinging before rest to take over afterwards. Something to reassure yourself after defeat in the United States (36-17) a week earlier but also for the World Recovery Tournament for the World Cup, which will take place from November 8 to 18 in Dubai.
