Working conditions, wages or even training: work.Suisse presented Tuesday 19 claims in favor of part -time people, mainly women.
Part -time work meets the needs of employees, but requires adjustments to mitigate the negative effects, according to an analysis presented Tuesday in Bern by work. The ridge requires an improvement in legal bases in order to better reconcile professional and private life, to protect the health of workers and to adapt the retirement system.
“Part -time work has drawbacks such as lessened social security coverage, less good promotion prospects, less continuing education and lower pensions,” notes work president Adrian Wüthrich.
Fixed days
Work.suisse offers nineteen measures. It is first to improve part -time working conditions, to revalue the wages of certain branches and to grant indirect value to non -remunerated reproductive work.
Among the requested measures include fixed leave days. “This measure allows people to plan their various commitments, which is essential when depending on a crèche or a daycare. In addition, this measure protects against the fragmentation of working days and allows a real rest as well as a healthy social life” indicates Greta Gysin, president of Transfair, quoted in the press release.
More than a third (37%) of employees were part -time in 2022 in Switzerland, against 32%in 2002. Part -time concerns a majority of women (56%) and a minority of men (16%).
