Riola Xhemaili and Meriame Terchoun are the last two players to have been found during the treasure hunt of several days organized by the Swiss football association and to be officially part of the selection for the Euro (02-27.07).
The selections of the Argovienne and the Basel, respond to perfect logic. Riola Xhemaili comes out of a season completed at the PSV Eindhoven while Meriame Terchoun has been advancing for months as one of the essential players of Pia Sundhagus.
Compared to the choices made for the last two meetings of the League of Nations against France and Norway, Ramona Bachmann, Lara Marti – who are both injured -, Alena Bienz, Naina Enauen and Seraina Piubel are missing. Coumba Sow, Noemi Ivelj, Luana Bühler, Alisha Lehmann and Leila Wandeler replace them.
Lehmann passes the “cut”
Despite her playing time limited to Juventus, Alisha Lehmann finally passed the “cut” as she always expected. A true icon of women’s football in Switzerland, the 26-year-old Basel could not not be present at this big meeting.
Aged 19, Leila Wandeler, who plays in Lyon, will be one of the two players with the third goalkeeper Nadine Böhi to count any selection. She could honor her first cape this Thursday in Winterthour in the friendly match against the Czech Republic. Pia Sundhagus is an ideal opportunity to start it in the deep end.
