It is rather surprising to receive a plum when you have your car well parked as it takes on your own private place. However, this has happened – and twice! – to a Zurich motorist at the start of the year. Logically, the latter challenged fines to the municipal police. But he was not ready to hear the explanation that was finally given to him.

Indeed, the “place” of park, which this independent hairdresser had rented to a private owner since 2012 in old town, is in fact not one. It is in the public domain. In other words, the rents paid for thirteen years, around 16,000 francs, were paid for nothing, since the property simply does not exist. However, he is indeed appearing on the written rental contract passed between the tenant and the owners of the building.

“An incredible audacity!”

With only two plums in thirteen years, the cheated tenant does not do so badly. It is nonetheless raised. “When we had the owner on the phone, she admitted to knowing that it was public land, but she said that we both took advantage of it,” he said. She did not even excuse herself. The manager of the show has filed a criminal complaint and seeks by all means to find new premises.

For their part, the owners of the building and the ghost space dispute the accusations. Through the voice of their lawyer, they denounce a defamation case. They believe that the tenant has parked in the wrong place during all these years and also consider civil and criminal procedures.
