Long awaited and desired, the folding iPhone would finally enter the rails towards its production. It would not be so simple for the folding iPad.
According to DigitimesApple would have discreetly started the development phases of its first folding smartphone, for a launch planned around 2026. The iPad, on the other hand, would be there.
First prototyping phase
The folding iPhone would have entered the first phase of prototyping of the brand: phase P1, which would mean progression in the development of the model.
Apple sets up several phases of about 2 months each: P1, P2, P3. These phases are followed by technical verification tests, design tests, then series production.
Its development is therefore on the right track, pending a future marketing. Assembly should be provided by Foxconn and Pegatron.
Alongside the iPhone 18 … Pro and air?
Apple would target 2026 for the first folding iPhone in its history, which would agree with the range of iPhones 18.
However, it is important to recall that the Cupertino firm could rework its release calendar very soon. The folding iPhone would therefore be only accompanied by 18 pro iPhones, 18 pro max, and can be 18 air. The launch of the iPhone 18 would be offset for the spring of the following year.
folding iPad put aside for the moment
If the development of the folding iPhone seems to be advancing surely, the same cannot be said of the iPad. Apple would have suspended the development of the latter. The company would have difficulties in manufacturing and production costs of the device.
The launch of the folding iPad, initially planned for an outing with the folding iPhone, should finally arrive later.
