IT students in Switzerland are increasingly favoring employers in the banking sector. This is revealed by a universum study on the most attractive employers for future IT professionals. UBS enters the top 3 for the first time.
Universum published the results of a study on Swiss students’ expectations vis-à-vis the labor market. The Survey Institute also establishes a classification of employers most appreciated by future IT experts. According to the results of the survey, here are the 20 most attractive employers for computer students:
The results show that IT students’ interest in the banking sector is increasing. UBS now appears for the first time in the top 3 of the IT classification of Universum. The Swiss National Bank (BNS) also climbs 2 places. Bank Julius Bär, on the other hand, has won four places compared to the previous year and is now positioned in 17th place in the ranking.
Nevertheless, Google and Microsoft remain, according to the survey, the two favorite employers of computer students.
Focus on AI skills
According to the press release, 87% of students in Switzerland are favorable to the integration of artificial intelligence. 59% of students have already acquired skills related to AI. Remote work is also important: two thirds of students prefer to work on average 2 days a week from their home.
Universum conducted this survey between January and June 2025 with 8,269 students from 7 different sectors, including 714 computer students.
